Shri Harish Chandra Bajpai : Are the Government aware of the fact that the elections are due towards the end of this year ? The Hon'ble the Minister of Local Self-Government : Government is aware of this fact and it has also been stated quite clearly that the whole matter is under the consideration of Government and will be expedited as much as possible. [...] Tahir Husain Is it the intention of Government to hold general elections under the old Municipal Act of 1916 ? The Hon'ble the Minister of Local Self-Government : The whole matter is under consideration. [...] In in his letter he says : " I beg to enclose herewith copy of a letter which I have addressed to the Hon'ble the Minister of Education on the subject of the Badrinath Temple and to submit with all the respect and emphasis at my command that this is pre-eminently a case in which the Speaker should not suspend the Standing Order. [...] X of 1813 by the court before the passing of this Act or in any decree custom or usage : Provided that the Committee may with the previous sanction of the Provincial Government within one year of the commencement of this Act recognize and give effect to or at any time after the commencement of this Act cancel the recognition and effect of such decree custom or usage relating to Shri Badrinath [...] Tahir Husain : How can the objection be raised unless the amendments are moved ? The Deputy Speaker: In the present case I shall be glad to suspend the Standing Orders as the usual period of seven days for its considertion after presentation of the report of the Select Committee has not been allowed.
