*1 Kunwar Anand Singh : (a) Will the Government be pleased to state the number of landholders and tenants in the districts of Kumaun exempt under the old rules under the Arms Act from taking out licences for the possession of fire-arms and the number of such parsons holding licences under the new rules ? (b) How tinny ap2lications for licences were granted in the districts of Almora and Naini Tai [...] Pandit R2msewak Pande : (a) Will the Government 1 pleased to state how many old thekadars of the Payagpur estate have been dispossessed since the state came under the management of the Court of Wards ? (b) If so will the Government state the reasons for this action ? (c) Is the Government aware that this action is causing a great deal of discontent and might intensify the agrarian troubles ? Mr. [...] (b) This has been done in pursuance of the settled policy of the Court of Wards to replace thekadari by direct management on account of (1) the obvious benefits to the estate (2) the obvious benefits to the tenants. [...] Hakim Nawab All Khan : (a) Are the Government aware of the dissatisfaction which the rumours of the bombardment of the Mausoleum of Hazrat Ali (Najaf Asbraf) and Masjid Sahla (in Mesopotamia) have created among the public of these Provinces in general and among the residents of the city of Luckuow in particular which is increasing every day. [...] I think the House will admit that the Taj Gardens and other public gardens of Agra are the pride not only of the whole province but of India and the world and I think the House will be glad to give money to keep-the gardens of the Taj and other famous monuments of Agra and their surroundings in a state of beauty.
