Z. H. Jailer: (a) Will the Secretary of the Defence epartment please state what the strength of the Indian Air Force is giving parately the number of officers And other ranks? [...] F. under the new scheme; and (b) the extent to which nationalisation of the Indian Army hat been achieved since the establishment of the Interim Government? [...] (b) As stated in the Explanatory Memorandum no provision has been made in the Defence Budget for the year 1947-48 for the cost of the stores to be drawn from the stocks. [...] Bianu Subedar: In order to have a more accurate estimate of the details in the Defence Department would it not be possible for the Honourable Meber to ask the Army who have used these materials' as to how much they have used in the course of the last year and haw much they would be using in the course of the next year? [...] (c) Are Government aware that due to the fear in the minds of the Heads of Departments of the Government of India that they may be reprimanded if expenses do not come up to the budget estimates they are reluctant to retrench even temporary staff and reduce other expenses during the course of the financial year as a result of which heavy loss is sustained by the Exchequer?
