We know that great responsibility rests on this Assembly and that is of frarr ing a Constitution which would be acceptable not only to the minorities but also to all the people of the country to the poor and to the common man and through which we may serve the people of India. [...] The note of humility means the unimportance of the individual and the supreme iportance of the unfolding purpose which we are called upon to serve. [...] President] in all humility to the service of India and her people to the end that this ancient land attain her rightful and honoured place in the world and make her full and willing contribtion to the promotion of world peace qnd the welfare of mankind. [...] It affords me much pleasure to extend to you and through you to the Government and people of India the most cordial wishes of the Goverment and people of Canada on the occasion of the establishment of India as a completely self-governing nation. [...] I desire to convey the greetings and good wishes of the Government and people of Australia to the Government and people of India on the historic occasion which is being celebrated on the 15th August.
