Minutes of the Syndicate for the Year 1934

The recommendations of the Committee which include among other things arrangements to be made by the University for the training of students for tholse examinations constitution of a Special Committee for supevising the arrangements the mode of admission of canddates to the course and the method of selection of candidates by the Local Government. [...] (Reports of the Committee in the subject are printed in the Appendix.) - The Committee also considered a Government letter dated the 8th November 1934 forwarding the proposal underconsideration of the Public Service Commission for the removal of certain items from the list of subjects for the Indian Civil Service Examination in India viz. [...] The proposal of the Vice-Chancellor therefore for the completion of the fourth storey of the Asutosh Building for the purpose of accommodating there the University Librtry as also the Lending Library of the Post-Graduate Department was extremely opportune. [...] The Syndicate thereupon appoined a Committee consisting of the Vice-Cbanceller the Director of Public Instruction Bengal the President of the Board of Accounts the Presidents of the Post-Graduate Cduneils and 4 other nowhere to report on the possibility of. [...] The boat thanks of tbe Syndicate are due to the Goverment of India for the presentation of copies of the Council of State and the Legislative Assembly Debates and also to the Department of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics of the Government of India for newish* the of statistical publications from this ear.
