1096L.—26th November 1934.—His Ecellency the Governor having been pleased to order under rule 18 of the Bengal Legislative Council Rules 1920 the publication of the folloing Bill together with the Statement of Objects and Reasons which accompanies it in the Calcutta Gazette the Bill and the Statement of Objects and Reasons are accordingly hereby published for general information.168 T [...] 3. In sub-section (2) of section 17 of the said Act for the words and figures in section 623 or section 649 of the Code of Civil Procedure" the words and figures "in sections 36 37 and 141 of and rule 1 of Order XLVII in Schedule I to the Code of Civil Procedure 1908" shall be substituted. [...] In Chapter VII of their Report the Civil Justice Committee recommended that having regard to the improved capacity of the subordinate judicial officers and in the interests of efficiency and economy it would be desirable to amend the Civil Courts Act so that indvidual selected Munsifs of capacity and experience might be vested on the recommendation of the High Court with power to try original [...] The present Bill has been drafted for the purpose of giving effect to these recommendations and the opportunity has been taken to introduce certain formal amendments for the purpose of bringing the Civil Courts Act up to date.
