F.55453-Cons.—Under Rule 43 of the Constituent Assembly Rules the President of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan has been pleased to order the publication in the Gazette of Pakistan of the following Bill together with the Statement of Objects and Reasons relating thereto and the Bill and the Statement of Objects and Reasons are accordingly published :— C. A. P. BILL No. [...] 1 OF 1953 A Bill to provide for the continuance of the present Legislative Assembly of East Bengal WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the continuance of the present Legislative Assembly of East Bengal ; It is hereby enacted as follows :— 1. This Act may be called the East Bengal Legislative short title. [...] 2. In East Bengal the Legislative Assembly which came into Contiouenei being by virtue of the Pakistan (Provincial Legislatures) Order of Logisl1947 shall notwithstanding anything in sub-section (2) of tive section 61 of the Government of India Act 1935 continue until Assembly of the fourteenth day of March 1954 unlesS earlier dissolved under East sub-section (2) of section 62 of that Act. [...] STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS In the absence of legislation to prolong it the life of the East Bengal Legislative Assembly terminates on the 14th March 1953. [...] This would mean government of the Province without the representatives of the people until the new elections have been held.
