Skilled workers. With regard to the wages of the remaining categories of workers it seems to me that in view of the increase awarded above in the wages of the lowest paid category of labour and having regard to the increase in wages made by me in the case of the middle class employees of Burmah Shell there is a case for increase in the wages of the other categories of labour as well. [...] Dearness allowance should not be deducted upto 3 days absence in a month. [...] I am however of opinion that it would be desirable that the basic wages and the deaness allowance paid by the Oil Companies to the workers should be unform all over Pakistan and the disparity in the cost of living in ucountry places and a place like Karachi should be compensated for by the award of a special allowance like the Karachi allowance. [...] and it seems to me that the interests of uniformity in the terms and conditions of service as between the workers of the same establishment demand that a similar allowance should be granted to the workers at the installations also.
