In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (d) of sub-section (1) of section 62 of the Cacutta Police Act 1866 (Bengal Act IV of 1866) and Clause (d) of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Calcutta Suburban Police Act 1866 (Bengal Act II of 1866) the Comissioner of Police Calcutta with the prevous sanction of the Governor in Council hereby makes the following amendment to rule [...] R ustomjee the powers of a Magistrate of the second class in the district of the 24-Parganas for a period of three years from the date of this notifiction in respect to such cases as may be made over to him within the limits of the jurisdition of the Sealdah Police Court (b) to direct that he shall in addition to sitting singly sit as a member of the Sealdah bench in the said district [...] (2) The Magistrate of the district shall fix a date for holding the election— (a) if the number of qualified special candidates is greater than the number of special seats or (b) if the number of qualified candidates for the ordinary seats is greater than the number of vacant ordnary seats." (3) In the proviso to rule 43 of the said rules - (i.) in clause (a) before the words "special candid [...] The Magistrate of the district shall on receipt of the reports under clause (iii) of rule 43A from the presiding officers of all the thanas comprised in the special eletoral unit declare the qualified special canddate or candidates to be duly elected who received the largest number of votes." (6) In sub-rule (2) of rule 47 of the said rules omit the words and figures "subject to the pro [...] dated 18th May 1914 the Government of Bengal (Ministry of Local Self-Government) are pleased to— (a) transfer to the union board named below in the district of Bakarganj all the functions of the Magistrate of that district under Chapters II and III of the said Act I of 1871 in respect of all pounds within the local area subject to the jurisdiction of the said union hoard and (b) direct that t
