In exercise of the power conferred by sub-section 4 of section 241 of the Bengal Municipal Act 1884 (Bengal Act III of 1884) and at the request of the Commissioners of the Garden Reach Municipality in the district of the 21-Parganas made at a meeting the Government of Bengal (Ministry of Local Self-Government) are pleased to extend section 241 of the said Act to the said Municipality. [...] (Bengal Act I of 1919) the Government of Bengal (Ministry of Local Self-Government) are pleased to appoint the Commissioners of the Serampore Municipality in the district of Hooghly to exercise and perform in the said municipality the same powers and duties as are conferred or imposed by the said Act on the Corportion of Calcutta and the Commissioner of Police respectively.
