The fifth term of the Reference to the Commission was "whether it was practicable and advisable for Government to acquire all the superior interests in agricultural lands so as to bring the actual cultivators into direct relation with the Government." The report of the Commission was for giving to the rent-paying interest-holders a compensation on the basis of net profit. [...] The learned pleader for the Union angued that at the time of _conciliation the Company agreed to pay to the Southern Division employees 10 per cent. [...] For the purpose of calculation the pay shall be the present pay and the money will be paid by the Company when the Provident Fund money shall become payable. [...] It is the business of the State and not of the employers. [...] it further appears from the evidence of the witnesses on the side of the Union that the Manager proposed redution of staff and requested the ammuktar who later became the President of the Association to ascertain the names of the persons to be retrenched.
