This bursting of the embankment relieved the villages to the west but on the other hand great damage to the country to the east was caused the pent-up waters thus suddenly relieved forming a kind of tidal wave which tore over the country and among other things swept away the bridge over the Rajhera Nala. [...] The paramount consideration of a suitable crossing of the Ramganga has determined the alignment of the canal where it enters the Moradabad district and the circumstances admit only of the southern portion of the district being brought under command. [...] The cotton crops of the district in the last three years have been poor and the progress of the Mills at Chandausi have suffered a check but only temporarily it is hoped Pages 47-48.—THE PRICES ENQUIRY Commission The Committee appointed in 1910 by the Government of India to enquire into the rise of prices generally sent one of its members to Moradabad in March 1911 and this gentleman took the e [...] The jail has recently been mado more secure by the heightening of the outer walls and by the reconstruction of the upper portion of one of the inner barracks. [...] The police is to be relieved of this duty and two independent records will be kept up one by the municipal staff on the report of the mohalla sweepers the other at certain registering offices on the reports of the people.
