Page 56 —PRESENT CANALS Undoubtedly one of the most far reaching events of the decade has been the construction of the Sarda Canal one of the largest and most up-to-date of its kind the upper reaches of which lie in the Pilibhit District. [...] The canal draws its supplies from the Sarda river at Banbassa ; the Head works the first 20 miles of the main canal the Sara-Deoha Feeder and the first 6 miles of the Bisalpur Branch lie in the Naini Tal district. [...] It is 16 miles long of which Li miles are in the Pilibhit district.14 Pilibbit District The Kailash Canal now takes off the Doha Bahgul Feeder At mile 8 ; the first 3i miles of this canal to the north of the feeder were abandoned as the result of the collapse of the Kailash dam during the floods of 1924.
