It is bounded on the north by the territories of His Highness the Khan of Kalat the Nasirabad Tehsil of British Baluchistan and the Dera Ghazi Khan district of the Punjab on the east by the river Indus on the south by the Sukkur and Larkana districts and on the west by the Khirthar range of mountains. [...] The result has been the general disappearance of the old jungles the universal spread of cultivation aided by extensions of the canal systems; the rise of prosperous villages and the cocomitant growth of material prosperity."DESCRIPTION. [...] The heat in the eastern part of the district is not so fierce as that of Jacobabad the proximity of the river being the cause of this. [...] The Bugtis the Mazaris the Marris the Chandias and the Magsis are all found in the district the Bugtis in Thul and Kandhkot the Mazaris and Marris in Kashmor. and the Chandias and Magsis in Shandadkot. [...] Jacobabad is irrigated by the Begari canal and its branch the Nurwah Thul by the Mirzawah and the Son wah ex-Begari the Unbar Wah and the tail of the Desert canal.
