Rivers.--From the e.mfiguration of the cothdry: it is evident that the main drainage of Coorg an easterly direction towards the Bay of Bengal while the mour ' - aar torrent of the western declivities of the Ghats flow into the fndi:in Ocean. [...] The Muttireinutta collects the waters of the southern slope of the Mercara ridge and the Chillea-hole those of the valley of Heriindrokkal-nid. [...] But it is perdeaeble if one is sometimes tempted to envy those favoured few who bask a.11 the while in the mild sunshine of pleasant Fraserpet the-momoon.head paters of the Superintendent 20 miles to the east of Me card where the roaring rivekand an eecasionatatiower from the fringe of the monsoon clouds are the only signs of the rainy season in the highlands. [...] For the rest of the year the natives of the country pronounce the climate to be excellent espcially after the monsoon. [...] The flora of the country isithnost identical with that of the rest of the mountain regions of Southerti-lndia.*. Looking upon Coorg with the eye of the forester rather than that' of the general botanist the most Superficial survey will not fail to dicover invaluable treasures of timber trees and their produce ac.ittAretl all over the Province.
