Finally the Giraffe of the Middle Siwaliks of the Punjab has been separated from the Giraffe of the Upper Siwaliks of the Siwalik Hills and the specific name punjabiensis given to the former. [...] On the other hand it differs from the latter family (1) by the complete absence of the Paheomeryx fold on the posterior side of the anterior crescent (2) by the narrower teeth (3) by the much smaller development of median costae on the dorsum (1) by the more complex development of the accessory lobe of the last molar in which an external crescent and an internal tubercle are developed with a [...] In spite of the early stage of wear the adjoining enamel folds of the crescents and lobes of the anterior column of the penultimate molar have already united to form an enamel island. [...] The groove on the dorsum of the tooth is exactly as in Palceomeryx and does not reach to the base of the crown. [...] 7. The lobes of the molars are set less obliquely to the axis of the jaw than in the recent Giraffe.
