The Minister of Finance (Shri C. D. Deshmukh): (a) The advice of the Com- ptroller and Auditor General has been sought on the question of modification in the system of accounting for River Valley Projects. [...] The suggestion was made in the repot of the Public Accounts Committee—I forgot now which year it is—and they recommended the separation of the post of Financial Adviser from the Chief Accounts Officer—I think sometime in March last. [...] 30 lakhs provided in the budget for the Year 1953-54 as grants-in-aid to the State Governments for the amelioration of the conditions of these tribes. [...] Minister seems to have said that he will consider the question of the desirability or otherwise of placing the opinion given by the Solicitor-General before the House. [...] The Nawab and the Begum have filed appeal to the Central, Board of Revenue against the order of the Collector of Customs.
