At the end of six days the contents of the tubes were transferred to sterile flasks and the precipitated solid separated in each case by filtration, and the precipitate washed with distilled water the washings being added to the filtrate. [...] Inoculated subcutaneously on one side of the body with all the precipitate from the dialysis of the serum-carbolic mixture, and 0. 5 c. c. [...] inoculated subcutaneously on one side of the body with all the filtrate from the dialysis of the serum-carbolic mixture, and 0. 5 c. c. [...] on the evening of the fifth day, vesicles and ulcers appeared on the seventh day and the animal died on the eighth day. [...] Thus, the presence of carbolic acid in the serum used in these experiments does not affect the precipitation of the immune bodies on dialysis of the serum.
