Issur Chandra Gupta, Poet and the Editor of the Pi-obi/akar in the issue of the paper on the 14th February 1853 observed "since the founda- tion of the Oriental Seminary by an Indian gentleman of no ordinary ability it is sending forth every year young men well educated and lit to enter the world. [...] 7. In the beginning of the Fifties of the last century, the then news-papers announced that the boys of the different Schools and Colleges had attempted to display their histrionic accomplishments : they performed several of Shekespeare's plays in place of recitation and in this they drew admiration of the cultured public—both Indian and European. [...] On the death of the founder, the entire management of the Seminary devolved upon his brother, the late Babu Hurray Kristo Auddy, who devoted all his time in the interest of the !nstitution, whicb continued to maintain its proud position as one of the most respect- able and independent schools in Bengal. [...] After serving the Seminary for over 43 years as a member of the Society and as the Honorary Secretary he died in harness on the 1st of September 1937 with a longing for the welfare Of the Seminary. [...] Saraswat SAM- milan was held in the evening under the presidency of Babu Kalipada Mukherjee, Secretary, B. P. C. C. ( 31 ) The Annual Janmastami festival could not be ob- served in the usual manner, the school being closed at the time due to disturbed state of the city, but the religious part was however held on the festival day in the Seminary premises.
