Department of Agriculture Madras. Report of the work of The Samalkota Agricultural Station for 1914-15

1915

Average for 12 years. [...] As regards the oil-cakes the results do not point to the superiority of any one of them over the others but as in the two previous years indicate that for this land and given that the quantity of manure applied per acre is sufficient to supply from 100 to 120 pounds of Nitrogen the question of which cake shall be used will be settled by its availability, price, and Nitrogen content. [...] As the quantity of Nitrogen so supplied is about half that supplied by the -full dressing of castor-cake the amount of that manure applied was limited to five bags per acre. [...] The trend of the results is in the opposite direction to that obtained in the experiment with irrigated paddy. [...] The yields of the plots will however continue to be noted with the object of testing the residual effects of the manures which ought to be considerable.
