The seed-beds that were raised with the help of this rain had a good start before the canal opened and the monsoon broke out in the early part of June. [...] Transplants with earlier sown seedlings were more satisfactory and this emphasises the necessity, which we have been advocating, of earlier sowing of seed-beds with the help of reservoirs, during the closure of canals, so that the seedlings are transplanted soon after the canal re-opens in June with a view to get good crops. [...] The slight excess of 1 candies in yield of jaggery from the propped plot does not fully cover the cost of propping. [...] The results of this experiment during the four years it was in progress have been uniformly in favour of hot weather cultivation for dry crops and the conclusions are definite. [...] . 2.
