Report of the Civil Veterinary Department North-West Frontier Province for the year 1912-13

1913

The increase in the number of cases treated at the dispensaries and the decrease in the number of cases treated by the Itinerating Assistants would seem to point to a growing preference on the part of the public to take their animals to the central' institutions. [...] The report promised by the Superintendent and referred to in last year's review was received : it showed that the experiment has been highly successful as far as the quality of the wool produced is concerned, the Egerton Woollen Mills Company declaring the cross-bred wool as the finest seen in India. [...] The disease did not re-appear in any of the villages where' the vaccinations were performed, hence the efficacy of the vaccine cannot be judged. [...] With the exception of one in the Kurram Agency, all the other animals are the property of Local Bodies. [...] At the close of the year there were 12 horse and 8 pony stallions at stud in the non-selected districts and agencies of the Province against 9 horses and 8 ponies in the previous year.
