Report of the Civil Veterinary Department North-West Frontier Province for the year 1913-14

1914

Woodley inspected all the Veterinary Hospitals in the Province except one, and most of the Tonga lines : he attended the several Horse Shows and Cattle Fairs held during the year as well as the Agricultural Show at Tarnab. [...] There were 16 rams and 5 ewes of the Merino breed in the Hazara District at the close of the year : the experiment with Merino rams is still being continued in that district, but the Superintendent was unable to visit Kagan during the year and none of the District Officials inspected the sheep. [...] The attention of the Superintendent, Civil Veterinary Department, and the Deputy Commissioner, Hazara, is drawn to the desirability of personally watching the experiment year by year. [...] At the close of the year there were 13 horses and 7 pony stallions in the non-selected districts and agencies of the Province, against 12 horses and 8 ponies in the previous year. [...] In the opinion of the Superintendent and the horse-breeders it is consi- , dered that the young Arab stock in all the non-selected districts of the Province are not improving.
