During the year the operations of the Department were to some extent hampered by the lack of staff in the subordinate ranks. [...] extra cost, was, however, worked out. , having for the object the abolition of the posts of the District Itinerating Veterinary Assistants and an addition to the number of the Inspectors' posts so as to reduce the size of these officers' circles. [...] Only partial effect was given to the scheme during the year in consequence of the temporary want of personnel mentionectlabove, but the Chief Commissioner is assured that its complete introduction will improve the quality of work in the Department owing to the advancement of the prospects of the Veterinary Assistants and the better distribution of work generally. [...] The excess of time spent in the North Punjab the previous year compared with the North-West Frontier Province was made good to the latter Province during the year under report. [...] the close of the year there were 12 horse and 7 pony stallions Number of stallions. —Table X. in the non-selected districts and agencies of the Province, or 2 less than the sanctioned scale, against 12 horse and 8 pony stallions in the previous year.
