The safeguard against the criminal pratices of the Police lies in the fact that the Indian public are thoroughly aware of the true character of that service and no respectable jury would attach the slightest importance to the hard sweariegs of members of that service. [...] When the present Government ignoring the unanimous protest of the Calcutta public placed a member of the Civil Service at the heal and a member of the Subodinate Executive Service at the tail of the Calcutta Police Court it was feared that the above Court will be gradually drawn into the sphere of influence of the Police. [...] Oa the application of the accused the High Court of Calcutta has even granted transfer of a case from the file of a Magistrate who in the first instance issued warrants against the accused instead of summons and demaned heavy bail on the ground that such procedure on the part of the Magistrate was calculated to cause reasonable apprehension in the mind of the accused that he would not got fair [...] 10 from him towards the funds of the Hat inam prdayini Sabha the object of which was to feed the poor on the occasion of the opening of the new Municipal Offices. [...] The question at iEsue between the parties in the suit out of which the appeal arose is whether the Plaintiff or the Defendant has a preferable title to the property in dispute.
