The question has once again been brought into prominence by a telegraphic announcement on the authority of the Times that the Secretary of State has sanctioned some changes in the pension rules by which Judges of the High Count who may be appoin ed members of the Executive Councils may not suffer in the matter of their pensio We have not the full text of the Times article before us and are in a po [...] The only way out of the difficulty is a repeal of the Act and the restoration of the ordinary course of trial in all cases. [...] The title "Extradition and Fugitive Offenders " treats of matters of more general interest and it is notworthy that the decisions of the King's Bench and the Court of Appeal in the case of Say :rkar under the Fugitive Offenders Act of England figure frequently amorw the leading authorities cited. [...] In the course of his judgment dismissing the appeal the MASTER OF THE ROLLS observed: By the law of England in force at the date of the testator's death a domiciled Englishman could not by will bequeath a mortgage of land in England for the benefit of a charity By the law 'of Ontario in knee at the same date a domiciled Canadian could not by will bequeath a mortgage of land in Ontario for the bene [...] 65 of the Contract Act the consideration being found to be illegal and the contract void and against public policy the Defenant was bound to restore to the Plaintiff thadvantage gained under the void contract and ' the Plaintiff was therefore dntitled to recover the property or the money : Held—That the Plaintiff's case being that the consideration as stated in the kobala was false the Defe
