The analogy sought to be drawn between the course of a river and that of an insect pest fails altogether because in the first place the Course of a river is ordinarily settled whereas that of an insect pest is incalculable and secondly because the ordinary course of the river is beneficial whereas that of insect pests altogether destructive. [...] The principal change made by the present editors has been to introduce the sections of the Bill of Exchange Act of 1882 verbatim in the body of the book and to adapt the articles of the standard work to them. [...] The Bill of Exchange Act has been given in extenso in the appendix and against every section of it reference has been given to the pages of the book where the law on the subject has been discussed. [...] The present editors have tested the common law doctrines by I he express provisions of the Act and where the former seem to have been modified or amended by the Act the editors have brought the cuternelitartes in line with the Statute. [...] It is a fanciful history of the growth of the law of registration amongst mankind followed by a hasty and no less fanciful resume of the political history of India from the earliest times which has absolutely no bearing on the law of registration.
