The report of the proceedings of the Committee -which was presided over by Lord Loreburn is of unusual interest to the people of this country and may be studied from the Parliamentary Report which is given in some detail in the “India” of 8th September 1916. [...] CHARLES RonEwrs made a statement ’of the official case in the course of which he said that as soon as the effect of the decision in Momod’s case was seen the Government of India at once asked that Legislation should take place to deal with it and at the end of 1913 Lord Crewe agreed that the point had to be dealt with and that it would be reserved for legislation.
