The highly cultured and the intellectual section of the Chinese people had rightly come to the conclusion that the monarchical form of government had bcome obsolete in the world and that if China was to keep herself abreast of the times she must adopt the democratic form of government. [...] In view of the approach of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the foundation of the Society of Comparative Legislation which takes place on the-A..19th December next we welcome the October number of the Society's Journal which we received last month and which contains a very interesting series of articles. [...] The raison d'etre of the Society of Comparative Legislation is to supply this want ; and for twenty years the Society has been engaged in presenting year by year in a cocise and orderly form a summary of the legislation of the British Empire the United States and the chief foreign countries of the world together with a critical Introduction and a complete Index. [...] We congratuslate the Society and the -eminent editors and contributors to the Journal on the selfless work that they have been doing for a quarter of a century for the advancement of true legal knowledge amongst the cultured people of the world and they can legitimately claim coperation and support from both t1t3 members of the legal profession and the general public. [...] In second appeal it was tended that the Plaintiff having describe land in the pleadings as raiyati jote the was governed by the Bengal Tenancy Act : Held—That the expression was used in the plaint in the sense of t Plaintiff being a tenant and the Plaintiff was not a raiyat under the Bengal Tenancy Act.
