65 of the Government of India Act which provides that the Indian Legislature is not competent to pass any law which may ivolve the passing of any sentence of death on a European British subject without the previous sanction of the Secretary of State for India. [...] XXVL particular status and of their own nationality with the aid of a jury of which at least one half the number must be Europeans or Amercans and further the limitations on the power of even such Magistrates to pass sentence under the ordinary provisions of the law were done away with. [...] The only bone of contention between Indian public -opinion and that of the European British subjects is witregard to the provision in the Code under which the latter may claim that in cases of jury trial before a Court of Sessions or a High Court at least one half of the jury must cosist of Europeans or Americans. [...] The Subordinate Judge of Chingleput held that the properties did not belong the temple but ordered the removal of the Dhaimfrarta on the ground that the accounts were unsatisfactory. [...] The Commisioner submitted his report on the 11th August 1920 and the the 18th August an order was passed in the absence of the Petitioner to the effect that as no.objections-had been preferred against the report of the Commissioner the final decree be drawn up in terms of the COmmisinner's report.
