A particular question addressed to the Hon'ble Member in charge of the Politcal Department wanted information as to the ;health of a certain detenu and as to the itention of Government in respect of releasing -him. [...] This estimate of the question to 1-3 a y the least is an extraordinary one for if the health of a citizen in the custody of the. [...] Another question which wanted to know if the Government were aware of the incovenience caused to the people of a certain locality by the non-stoppage of a mail steamer there and if the Government were considering the desirability of arranging for a stoppage has been disalloweu on the ground that it practically asks for an expression of opinion. [...] the case of an applicant claiming to be a tenure-holder stands on a different footing from the case of the applicant who admits his teancy to be a holding but impugns the real character of the rent sale on the.ground. [...] Besides this historical account of the police law in India the book gives the report of the Police Commission of 1860 the statements of the Objects and Reasons of the four Acts copious extracts from the proceedings in the Legislative Council and in fact the entire body of literature relevant to the Police law of India.
