Walton says: “ It will be many years before the full effect of the English legisla tion with regard to property is appreciated and for the present great as are the merits of the new laws they have laid a heavy burden upon the backs of practising mebers of the profession and still heavier one perhaps on the teachers and students of law. [...] To do justice to it one must be well-acquainted with the old law and.must make a careful and comparative study of the Law of Property Act the Settled Lands Act the Trustees Act the Land Charges Act the Administration of Estates Act the Land Registration Act and the Universities and Colleges Estates Act all of 1925. [...] The Begal Act had to leave out provisions of the Ordinance relating to the ousting of the jurisdiction of the High Court to issue writs of habeas corpus in respect of comitments to prison or detention in custody by the executive order without trial because the Local Government was not copetent to legislate in respect of the jurisdition of the High Court. [...] 67B of the Government of India Act which the Assembly again rejected ; but the Govenor-General certified it to be essential for the tranquillity of the Presidency of Bengal and recommended it for being passed by the Council of State which obligingly complied and with the Governor-General's assent the Supplementary Act became law for Bengal. [...] Then Sakhi died whereupon Satish's widow Bhabtarini filed a petition for a revocation of the letters granted to Srish on the ground that oit the death of the only two annuitants under the Will the estate had been " copletely administered " and so the grant of the letters to Srish had become useless ania inoperative through circumstances withila the meaning of sec.
