27 of the Act the Court may either by a summons to the parent or guardian of a child apparently under the age of fourteen years or by a warrant to be executed by a police officer order the production of such child if the Court has reason to believe that the child frequents the company of any reputed prostitute in circumstances calculated to cause encourage or favour the sedution or prostitutio [...] 28 the Court may instead of sending the child to an industrial school make an order for the committal of the child to suitable custody until the child attains the age of sixteen years or for any shorter period. [...] Having passed the Bengal Children Act in 1922 the legislature in the year following passed the Calcutta Suppression of immoral Traffic Act in order to make better provsion for the suppression of brothels of or traffic in women and girls and for other puposes of a like nature in the town and suborbs of Calcutta and in the port of Cacutta. [...] 4 of the Calcutta Suppresion of Immoral Traffic Act in respect of a minor married girl but the legislature ejoins the Court to place the girl produced before the Court in suitable custody and therefore it is incumbent on the Court holing an enquiry under sec. [...] As to whether the Act contemplates the case of a married girl the conclusion arried at by the learned Judges as we have stated above is surely justifiable and if any change is necessary so as to exclude cases of married girls from the provisions of the Act it is a matter for the legislature and we hope that the case in question will engage the serious attention of the legislature.
