The Notification is published in Part; III of the Calcutta Gazette simply as a notification of the Government of Bengal Legislative Dpartment and is in the following terms:— R24L dated Calcutta the Gth February 1929.—In rursuance of the provisions of subsec. [...] Al of the Government of India Act the following Act of the local legislature of Bengal having been assented to by the Governor-General on the 14th of December 192Q is hereby pulished for general information — This notification of the Legislative Dpartment of the 6th February last cannot be regarded as a part of the Act. [...] 81 (3) of the Government of India Act we find that the operative potion of the section which requires the assent of the Governor-General after the provincial Governor has assented to the Bill runs in the following terms:— The Act shall not have validity until the GovernoGeneral has assented thereto and that assent has been signified by the Governor-General to and published by the Governor [...] 7 and that the date of the publication of the Act should be so printed above the title of the.Act as to form a part of the Act. [...] the publication of the notification and the publication of the Act in the Calcutta Gazette but all the same we think that a statute should comply strictly with stattory requirements and the Amending Act may be republished in the prescribed form.
