The finings were that for the purpose of boycotting the Courts and for the purpose of obstrucing the administration of justice the pleaders had engaged in a concerted movment and the arrangement with the clients releasing them from their 'contracts was merely a form of device resorted to in futherance of that movement. [...] " Even if the clients for some reason or other had absoled the pleaders from their duty to themselves in respect of the case entrusted to them which was one in which the Court required the assistance of trained lawyers placed in charge of the same the duty of pleaders to the Court as officers of the Court representatives of their clients apointed to protect their interests and to ass [...] These modern jurists belittle the belief of the ancient lawgivers of the East that the moral ideals of the people form the lifblood of the laws. [...] The procdure adopted at the trial often strikes the modern reader as quaint; and the manner in which the House of Commons controlled the conduct of the case betrays a deep ditrust el' the monarchy and the nobility which was.general in those times. [...] On this attitude being taken up by the Captain there followed what seems to 'nave been a general debate between the judge the prisoner Counsel for the Crown Cousel waiting to be assigned to the prisoner and curiously enough the Clerk of the Court the Clerk of the Arraigns also intervening frequently with warnings to the public to " make peace on pain of imprisoment."
