He referred to the judicial experience of his Lordship dwelt on the necessity of maintaining pleasant relationships between the Bench and the Bar and concluded by epressing the hope that his Lordship's tenure of office would be cherished in the annals of the Court as a landmark." The President of the Bar Association Mr. [...] Justice Mukerji to the office of Acting Chief Justice he referred to the " great uncetainty " of the relations between the Court and " other authorities " in the country and of the relations of the Court with the people. [...] " It is the function of this Court through its Judges with the help of counsel advocates and solicitors to administer justice according to law impartially between man and man between man and the State." After replying to the felicitations extened to him the Chief Justice proceeded to pay the Court's tribute to the memory of the late Sir Charu Chunder Ghose. [...] Where an appeal comes up before the Coact and the Court is of opinion that the sentence should be enhanced the proper prcedure to follow is to admit the appeal and to give notice to the accused for enhancement of sentence and the two matters should be heard together. [...] (3) That a legal practitioner is a part of the machinery provided for the maintenance of order and the enforcement of the law of the land ; it is therefore inconsistent with the duties as a legal practitioner to incite others either to boycott the Courts or to break the law which it is the duty of the Courts to aminister; those who live by the law cannot preach the breaking of the law.
