The scope of the latter is limited to trials within the district and does not extend to the trial of all offences comitted within the district wherever they may be tried. [...] The annual session of the lawyers' Coference was held on the 3rd and the 4th June at Barisal under the presidency of Mr. [...] Yet time and again he strays afield to make such astouning statements as that " divorce is prevalent among by far the majority of the Hindus " and that among the majority of Hindus " the nuptial union is so loose that it can be disolved at the mere caprice of the husband and also at the instance of the wife!" The marriage customs of the Hindus may or may not be ideal but a book disfigured [...] In a suit on a mortgage-bond it appeared that the object of the mortgage deed was to defraud the creditors of the mortgagor and that the mortgagee was cognisant of and indeed a party to the intended fraud: Held (CORNISH and STODART JJ.)----That the mortgagor was not estopped from setting up the plea that the mortgage was a sham transaction and was not supported by consderation. [...] The Official Assignee claimed that he was entitled to the whole of the sale proceeds: Held (STONE and PANDRANG Row JJ.) --That once a decree has been followed by an attachment of the son's interest in the joint family property the normal power of the manager of that property to alienate it for payment of debts from the moment of attacment ceases to be his right.
