The keen concern that is displayed by the Crown and the Law Courts in England for a fair trial of an accused no matter how grave may be the charge against him is manifest from the recent application made by the Attorney-General in the King's Bench Division before the Lord Chief Justice and two other judges for a rule 1 iat for atachment for contempt of Court against the publishers and editor [...] A sequel to the Ruxton case has been a brisk discussion in the English legal press on the desirability or otherwise of the publcation of full reports of the preliminary prceedings. [...] The brushing aside of the American view on the point and toiling through English cases in interpreting the Indian statute not the offspriM of Comon Law alone but of the New York Civil Code as well may after all prove not a very profitable research especially if one loses sight of the trail of legislation in England. [...] But added to such materials is an editorial Dote of the nature of the note in Smith or White and Tudar explaining the effect of the :sadgment on the existing law and tracing its roots in previous cases. [...] There are also keyed up " references first to Halsbury'a Laws of England where the complete statment of the law is to be found and then to the English and Empire Digest where the whole of the case-law on the subject is colected.
