Although all persons who are organising A. R. P. measures are entitled to the grattude of the public it is possible to lose the sense of values and overdo the thing; and few we apprehend will be able to apprciate the conception which the District Judge of Alipore seems to have of the matter or of his own powers as District Judge. [...] And if a ministerial officer has to attend to the duties of his office during the day time and then spend the whole night in the Court building or if he is to reach the Court at 7 A. M. for detention till 5 P. M. or if arriving at 11 A. M. he is detained till 9 in the night we do not see how his health is to bear the strain or where he can find the money for the repeated journeys or how he can a [...] The period has been further abridged by the petrol rationing and the devaluation of the units " to a level of uselessness which has compelled most of the Advocates to give up their cars and take to bus or tram car for the journey to the Court. [...] Once they have held a prelminary conference and passed on some papers they begin to show a tendency to think that the lawyer is now in their power and payment of the fees contracted for is irrelevant to the duty of the lawyer to coduct the case at any rate to abstain from appearing for the other side. [...] When a suit is brought on a mortgage of the joint family property executed by the ficther and the mortgage is found to be not for legal necessity to a certain extent and the mortgage is declared invalid but a simple money decree for such amount is passed against the father the decree-holder can in execution of the decree so obtained attach and sell the property covered by the mortgage and Or.
