The Calcutta Weekly Notes Monday March 23 1942

1942

It was recently stated in the press that in spite of the loss of Rangoon the Goverment of Burma was functioning smoothly and the Ministers were conducting the aministration from somewhere in the country. [...] ing from the success achieved in the anlysis and arrangement of the intricate prpositions which have grown up under this branch of the law we have little doubt that in the treatment of easier subjects such as the Penal Code and other substantive laws the standard of excellence will be maitained. [...] Both in the quality of the paper and the neatness of the printing the get-up is a pleasant surprise in these days of high prices. [...] It therfore follows that after the order is made permitting the withdrawal of the suit on certain conditions it is not open to the Plaintiff to ask the Court to modify or annul those conditions—because the suit has already ended when the order is made. [...] It is not also open to the Plaintiff to ask the Court to revive the suit on the ground of non-acceptance of the terms.
