He was one of the founders of the Bengali Academy of Letters the Sahitya Parisad and was for a time its President. [...] He was drawn into the all-sweeing currents of the first renaissance movment of India the Swadeshi Movement of Bengal and was largely instrumental in founding the National Council of Education. [...] We report in this issue the judgment of Henderson J. in the case of Bogra Bank v. L:amani Mohan which we hope will clarify the position as regards the power of the Court to take into account the mesne prfits enjoyed by the decree-holder when a decree is re-opened and the property direced to be restored to the judgmendebtor. [...] In deciding what iterest is to be allowed for the period beween the two decrees or whether any iterest is to be allowed at all the Court may bear in mind the mesne profits and adjust its decision accordingly; but if by the new decree it allows interest at a certain rate it cannot thereafter deduct therefrom the amount of the mesne profits in the manner of an account stated.
