The Madras statute and charter invested the Madras Supreme Court with such jurisdiction and authority as the Supreme Court of Fort William in Begal possessed and accordingly the judment under notice follows the method of first determining the limits of the juridiction of the Calcutta High Court and then holding those limits to be the limits of the jurisdiction of the Court at Madras.
