If our information is correct it appears that all work of :printing in the press of the Government of Bengal is going on except the printing of the High Court lists -and the reason we understand is that the staff which used to do this work want overtime allowance for the period they are required to work for the lists in the evening after the usual working hours which the Government is not will [...] a previous occasion it was discovered that the Government had provided a special grant for the printing of the lists and Sir George Rankin the then Chief :fustice of Bengal reduced the subscription of the lists from Rs. [...] and in recognition of his services was endowed with the title of C. B. E. His legal acumen and powers of advocacy drew the attetion of the late Sir N. N. Sircar who got him nominated as a member of the Central Assembly where he helped the Law Member to pilot through the Legislature the Indian Insurance Act and the Indian Companies Act. [...] The assessee is given the choice of the wanner in which the calculation of his profits and gains shall be made by reference to the system of accounting which he has himself adopted for the purpose of his own business. [...] 195 and 476 of the Criminal Procedure Code apply the accused is entitled to the benefit of a strict construction of and compliance with the relevant provisions of the statute.
