The misrule of the Muslim League Ministry the nepotism and corruption in the various Government departments and wanton destruction during the last nine months of life and property by means too horrible to contemplate obliged the Hindu and the Muslim Nationalists of Bengal to demand a partition of the prvince in order that one half of it at least he saved from further tyranny and oppresion [...] What was therefore the necessity of ascertaining the wishes of the people through their representatives in the Legislature when the people themselves had made their wishes known in an unmitakable manner ? Rumours are afoot that the agents of the Muslim League are aready active and are trying to influence the votes of M. L. A 's representing the Hindu majority areas by unfair means. [...] We draw the attention of His Ecellency the Viceroy and the VicPresident and other Nationalist mebers of the interim Government to the paramount necessity of ensuring free and fair voting on the vital issue of partition. [...] 93 of the Government of India Act applied to this r:rovince and the voting by the members of the Assembly should take place wider the aegis of the GovernoGeneral and British officers of the Indian Army who never had anything to do with politics and the voting should be by show of hands. [...] On the other hand regarding loss of nationality on marriage the recent trend is to allow the woman to retain her own nationality if desired or at least unless the woman ou marriage automatically acquires the husband's nationality under the law of the husband's country.
