We have no fears for the future; Indian lawyers have taken to Anglo-Saxon jurisprudence almost like a duck to water and have demonstrated that with the inheritance of a millennia-old legal system of their own they delight in the subtleties of the law and its evegroing adjustment to the demands of logic and of experience. [...] Court work in the Appellate Side will practically remain stopped for a fortnight from to-day: The reason is that the rcord of cases which have come from the area which will be the Dominion of Eastern Pakistan from the 16th instant are going to be sent to Dacca for disposal by the Pakistan Court. [...] References to current Indian law and to the decisions of the Privy Coucil and the various High Courts are copious and appropriate and they greatly enhance the value of the book. [...] We would have profited much if he had discussed the matter from the point of View of the principles underlying the two (communistic and cementitious in the case of the Mitakshara and individualistic and fissiparious in that of the Dayabhaga) and given us his considered opinion as to 'which of the two was prior in point of time i.e. [...] The suits were remanded to the trial Court for fixing the amount of rent paable by the Defendant since the expiry of the tenancy with a direction that if the amount so fixed was paid within the time fixed by the Court the suits would stand dismissed.
