We have often before in the past referred to this matter and asked for a shortening by a few weeks of the Long Vacation (which need not inconvenience anybody as Setember is not the time when as a rule one can go out on a real holiday) a diminution of the ten-day Easter recess (to our mind quite irrational and somewhat unnatural in the present political set-up) and as a result the provision of [...] Although aesthetically the necktie is the most attractive and beautiful part of the European dress—or perhaps for that very reason it has recently come to be reckoned as the symbol of anti-nationalism and has been the subject of much mahandling by excited processionists. [...] We confess that a first reading of it leaves something like a sour taste in the mouth for it is certainly unpleasant for a Congress Ministry to have to ask the Legislature for powers that are extraordinary and are to some extent rminiscent of the measures which used to be adopted by the alien administration in the bad old past. [...] When a settlor creates a wakf partly for the maintenance and support of his family and children and partly for a specified charitable purpose such as for the support of a mosque an ultimate reversion of the fund bestowed on the family could well be inferred in favour of such charity for where the settlor has indicated a preference for a specific religious or charitable pupose of a permanent [...] The Mussalman Wakf Validating Act by defining wakf as a dedication for a relgious pious or charitable purpose " and icluding the maintenance and support of the wakif's family children and descenants among the purposes for which a mkt can be created recognises that in the age of the Muhammadan law provision for one's family and descendants is a pious and charitable purpose.
