Hague was made however of much sterner stuff than the habitual mildness of his normal bhaviour suggested and in defiance of all the frowns of the tin-gods who thought they were the lords of Indian human kind he brought in a verdict which was a slasing indictment of the conduct of the Cacutta police in shooting on unarmed student demonstrators in Dharamtala Street on November 21 1945. [...] We publish elsewhere a letter from a correspondent and a circular issued by the Traffic Manager of the Eastern Bengal Railway to the judicial Secretary of the East Bengal Government and ciculated to the District Judges of East Begal embodying a memorandum of the Ministry of Finance Pakistan Dominion. [...] The Dominion of Pakistan or for that matter thDominion of India representing the Railway Adminitration is ii the position of a private party in any suitor proceeding and any repudition of any claim or any plea in defence 'ought to be raised not by way of advice but by way of submission to the Courts.
