The immdiate reaction of the pepple was one of surprise mixed with a feeling of indigntion for the mishandling of the situation by the Government of Kashmir and the Goerment of India. [...] At the time of his death he was the President of Bharatiya Jan Sangh a political party of which *he was the founder and which drew adherents from all parts of India. [...] A Full Court Reference was held on the 23rd June last in the Court-room of the Chief Justice to commemorate the death of Dr. [...] It was necessary that something more should be done that the Judges of this Court and the members of the profession and the officers of the Court should assemble in a solemn gatheing to express their sense of loss at the pasing away of Dr. [...] At the time when the plan for the Partition of the country was being finalised there was a suggestion that the whole of this Province might go over to the other State and it wascxxvi THE CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES.
