Their Lordships whilst affirming the general rule that the Judicial Committee will not lightly intefere in criminal cases set aside the conviction of the Appellant for embezzlement by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Seychelles on the ground that justice had gravely and injuridusly miscarried and the sen ence pronounced against the Appellant cons ituted an invasion of the Apellant’ [...] And yet on the 27th June r the very day on which the guarantee or security was given criminal proceedings apparently at the instance of the Chief Justice were initiated against the Appellant and the Chief Justice again as president of the Family Council appointed two Counsel to conduct the prosecution and arranged about their fees and finally after a trial at which the Appellant does not appe [...] Noticing tile increased number of calls to the Bar the English Law journal with its characteristic breadth of view makes the following observtions :- This growth in the membership of Bar does not mean an increase in the competition in our Courts it attribuable to the larger number of students who come to the ris from the King’s dominions beyond the seas. [...] The fee as I have already pointed out varies in proportion to the amount of the claim and the quantity of the work to be done. [...] One noteworthy feature of the matter is that pleaders consider it their duty to take up the work for the work’s sake and with a view to help the Court no matter what fee the Judge fixes and the Judge has absolute discretion in the matter.
