N. 566 by which Chunder J. held that no rlief could be given in pending proceeings under the Calcutta Thika Tenancy Act by reason of the omission of setions 28 and 29 of the Calcutta Thika Tenancy Act by section 8 of the Aending Act of 1953. [...] During his term the Supreme Court strove to up hold the Rule of Law and upon matters involving the liberty of the individual his views were unmistakbly pronounced in favour of maximum individual freedom. [...] He however rturned to the Bench as a Judge of the Federal Court in 1948 and later on of the Supreme Court. [...] Justice Mahajan the Supreme Court will rise to greater heights in the estimation of the people of India. [...] Un'ess contracts between lawyers and clients for na-ment of fees in excess of the scaled-down rates fixed by the Government are made uenforceable and a criminal offence cognisable by the Police the idea comes a Gilbertian one.
